Working With the Army Marketing Enterprise Office: A July Production That Elevated My Filmmaking

July brought one of the biggest opportunities of my career — working with a medium-scale film production crew for the Army Marketing Enterprise Office as both a Camera Assistant and BTS shooter. Being on a set operating at this level was energizing, humbling, and a reminder of why I love being behind the camera.

Elevating My Set Etiquette

Working alongside an experienced crew taught me more about proper set etiquette than any class or tutorial ever could. I absorbed how departments communicate, how the AD team controls the flow, and how important it is to move with intention. Every moment sharpened my awareness and helped me understand the rhythm of a professional commercial set.

Supporting the Camera Team

As a Camera Assistant, I handled lens changes, gear prep, slating, and staying two steps ahead of what the DP and camera operators needed. Military-focused productions demand precision and efficiency, and being trusted with that responsibility was huge. It pushed me to operate at a higher level and strengthened my confidence in large-scale commercial environments.

Capturing Behind-the-Scenes

Shooting BTS is one of my favorite parts of any production. It allowed me to document the collaboration, the teamwork, and the cinematic workflow that made the project come alive. These moments reveal the heart of the production — the details that viewers never see but always feel.

Crafty and Crew Culture

I also learned the unexpected joy of good crafty. When you're carrying gear in the Texas heat and running nonstop, those snack breaks and hydration stations keep the whole team going. You realize quickly: great production is about people just as much as cameras.

A Project That Mattered

This opportunity meant more than just another job. It was proof that the leap I took when launching my business was worth it. I left with new skills, stronger industry relationships, and the motivation to continue growing in commercial and branded filmmaking.
